A woman who accused a former employee of sexual abuse at a youth detention unit in Concord has reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with New Hampshire.

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has reached a $1.5 million settlement with the Youth Development Center (YDC) in Manchester, now known as the Sununu Youth Services Center, to resolve allegations of abuse and neglect at the facility. The settlement, which was announced on March 14, 2024, addresses claims made by former residents who alleged they were subjected to physical and sexual abuse, as well as neglect, while at the YDC between 1994 and 2019. The funds from the settlement will be used to compensate the victims and to support their ongoing needs, including mental health services. This settlement marks a significant step towards accountability and healing for those affected by the reported incidents at the YDC.
