Harsimrat Kaur Badal, a former Union minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, has written to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar requesting his intervention to sensitize the UAE government about the Sikh community's five articles of faith. In her letter, Badal highlighted the issues faced by Sikhs in the UAE, particularly concerning the wearing of the kirpan, one of the five Ks that Sikhs are required to carry as part of their religious practice. She emphasized the need for the UAE authorities to understand and respect these religious symbols to prevent any inconvenience or discrimination against Sikhs living or traveling in the UAE.
