  • New Hampshire State Police has signed up to help federal officers with immigration enforcement in the state.

The New Hampshire State Police have ended their partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to a decline in illegal immigration and a shift in ICE's focus towards criminal investigations. The agreement, which allowed state police to assist ICE in identifying undocumented immigrants, was not renewed after its expiration on December 31, 2023. This decision aligns with similar actions taken by other law enforcement agencies in New England, reflecting a broader trend of reevaluating such partnerships. The New Hampshire State Police will continue to collaborate with ICE on criminal investigations but will no longer participate in civil immigration enforcement.
