  • Sad news. We've lost a man who was perhaps the most recognized veteran in this area. Phil Crenshaw was on the first South Plains Honor Flight in 2012.

Phil Crenshaw, a beloved veteran and long-time resident of Lubbock, Texas, was remembered for his unwavering faith and sense of humor following his passing at the age of 92. Crenshaw, who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was known for his dedication to his church, where he was an active member and often shared his faith through storytelling and humor. Friends and family highlighted his ability to bring joy and laughter to any situation, as well as his commitment to serving others, which he continued well into his later years through various community and veterans' organizations. His memorial service was attended by a large crowd, reflecting the impact he had on the community, and tributes poured in celebrating his life, faith, and the joy he brought to those around him.
