The Pope Francis I knew: Reflections from CNN's Vatican correspondent

Pope Francis had a great sense of humor. When I met him once at the back of the papal plane, I cracked a joke with him that was a little bit close to the line. Luckily, he roared with laughter and told me "Sei cattivo!" ("You're naughty!"). Every day, he used to say, he prayed the words of St. Thomas More: "Lord, give me a sense of humor."
Pope Francis, in a recent interview with CNN's Norah O'Donnell, discussed his reflections on the Catholic Church's handling of sexual abuse cases, admitting that the Church was initially slow to respond and lacked understanding of the issue. He acknowledged the pain of the victims and emphasized the Church's ongoing efforts to address the problem, including implementing new policies and procedures to prevent future abuses. The Pope also spoke about the importance of listening to victims and ensuring their voices are heard, while expressing hope that the Church can continue to heal and move forward.
